In December, the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador "Reaching Out to Gay Youth Project" got underway in the Corner Brook area. The project is geared towards HIV / AIDS prevention and education for young gay men and young men who have sex with men, ages 14 - 24 (target group). The project has three main goals; producing and distributing a needs assessment for the target group, producing educational materials regarding HIV / AIDS and sexuality, and hosting a one-day forum. The information gathered through the needs assessment will provide a basis for the educational materials and the forum. To date, with the help of an advisory committee, we have developed a needs assessment. Throughout the months of April and May, the needs assessment will be distributed in the area. We will be providing regular updates about the project on our website. The project is funded by Health Canada and receives support from the following partners; Health and Community Services Western, The AIDS Committee of Western Newfoundland, The Humber Community YMCA, and individuals from the community. Myra Hall can be reached at The Humber Community YMCA, phone: 709-634-4429, fax: 709-634-9622, or by email: mmhfrog@hotmail.com. The Gay Youth Project Needs Assessment Analysis is now online
