| AIDS Walk for Life Artwork Contest
Winner |
|
Each year, the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life selects a piece of
artwork from a Canadian HIV-positive artist to be used in all of
our national promotional materials. This artwork will serve as a
link between the general public, as the audience of the
Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life, and the communities supported by
the event in an intimate and meaningful way.
ACNL is proud to announce that Don Short, Peer Support
Coordinator for The AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador,
has been chosen the winner of the 2009 Artwork Competition for
Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life Campaign.
The artwork entitled "Walk in our Shoes" will be released at a
future date for the 2009 Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life campaign.

| Sexual &
Reproductive Health Awareness Day |
Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Day is celebrated every
February 12th.
It’s been 40 years since contraception became legal in Canada.
The struggle for access to contraception was an important battle
in Canadian history and it opened new freedoms for Canadians.
Even today, 40 years later, the struggle continues as many
Canadians still cannot access information and services because
of real or imagined barriers.
Youth, continue to face unplanned pregnancies or the risk of
sexually transmitted infections because they are unable to
access or negotiate the use of protection in their relationships
People across the nation are encouraged to consider the
importance of improving and maintaining their sexual and
reproductive health and to talk about healthy decision making
with the people they care about. It’s time to reflect on how we
can create a sexually healthy new generation full of individuals
and communities that are comfortable speaking about and
expressing their sexuality.
